BK Group is dynamic business entity having interests in diverse businesses. The chief protagonist was Mr. Kanubhai J. Kakkad, who started his career as an employee in the year 1950 in a small company in the name of M/s. Seth & Sons, which served as a Customs Clearing agent for various commodities like Ball Bearing, Cotton Yarn, and Chemicals etc. After having worked for 5 6 years and having gained sufficient experience, Mr. Kanubhai ventured on his own and started his own company in the name and style of M/s. Bhavanidas & Sons, as a Customs Agent, specializing mainly in Ball Bearings.In the year 1972, when the Gems & Jewellery sector was in its nascent stage, Mr. Kanubhai envisioned an opportunity and diversified into customs clearance of valuable cargo, viz. Diamonds & Jewellery. In a short period, M/s. Bhavanidas & Sons established itself as a leading service provider in the Gems & Jewellery sector. In the year 1990, after having completed his graduation Mr. Ajay K. Kakkad, the eldest son of Mr. Kanubhai joined the company as an employee. After having gained sufficient experience, Mr. Ajay took charge of the management. In 1996, he changed the name and constitution of the company from M/s. Bhavanidas & Sons, a partnership firm into M/s. B. K. Freight Forwarders Pvt. Ltd., a Pvt. Ltd. Company. He became the majority stake holder in the new company. Very soon, he was able to expand his business to Surat, a major Diamond Manufacturing Hub in Gujarat. In a matter of a few years, he more than doubled the volume of his business. After the sad demise of Mr. Kanubhai in the year 1998, Mr. Ajay has single handedly managed the business which has grown in sizeMr. Ajay Kakkad, has over the years diversified into investments in real estate. In the year 2010, he along with other investors, has invested in a company in the name and style of M/s. Oracle Reality Developers, where he is partner having 20 % holding. He has also invested in a company called M/s. ECo-Green Energy Systems Pvt. Ltd. where his wife Mrs. Jyoti A. Kakkad is a director having 25 % stake. This company has entered into a contract (in collaboration with Grow Diesel, a waste management company) with Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation for converting their dry waste into Bio-fuel. This project is in its nascent stage, awaiting final approvals from the State Govt. and the Civic Administration. A pilot project has already been launched by Grow Diesel, the main consulting partners in the Chief Minister of Delhi, secretariat building which is running successfully since the last 3 years. Being one of the Pioneers in the field of Gems & Jewellery Industry, we have decided to expand the scope of our activity into the field of International Logistics, for which we have entered into an agreement with a reputed International Carrier Company viz. FEDEX. We are also in talks with DHL for further expansion plans.
