What kind of works is the EIS (engineering & industrial services) segment of TCS doing?

The answer is awesome. But it is clearly suggesting a top down approach which is a little against the lean approach which prophesies a bottom-up approach. Is it possible to take the bottom-up approach in a large scale industry involved in manufacturing? By bottom-up approach, i mean that the change should be suggested from the people who are directly involved in production and then work its way upwards.

TCS EIS is actually providing support to large and small industries in the core segment over the world. It has the most prestigious brands in manufacturing segment as its clients. Few examples are GE (General Electric), Rolls Royce, Applied Materials, Ferrari and so on. Most of the work in EIS segment is related to implementation of PLM in large industries and customize the existing products in the market according to their needs, adding functionalities etc. Other than PLM, it also aids in the new product development to many companies in the Medical devices, automobile, aerospace and other segments and has got multiple patents in its name. They are also in the field of Design and analysis, CFD simulation, meshing and other jobs for various companies. It is also helping the industries during mergers in terms of data handling and adapting to the change of platform. When one company acquires other company, it helps in migration of product data from one platform to another. Other than these, the EIS segment is helping large scale industries in documenting things, creation and maintenance of shared knowledge and automation of repetitive jobs.
